Tips

  • Accuracy first: stay above 90% before you push WPM higher.
  • Keep your eyes on the words, not the keyboard.
  • The 60 second test is the standard way to compare scores.
  • Use punctuation and numbers once common words feel easy.

1 Minute Typing Test - FAQ

Is this typing speed test free?+

Yes. Priygop's typing test is 100% free with no signup. Your personal best is saved in your browser on this device.

How is WPM calculated?+

WPM (words per minute) is correct characters divided by 5, then divided by minutes typed. That is the standard typing-test formula.

What is CPM?+

CPM is characters per minute - how many correct characters you typed per minute. WPM is roughly CPM divided by 5.

What is a good typing speed?+

The average typist is around 40 WPM. 50–70 WPM is solid for office work. 80+ WPM is fast. Accuracy above 95% matters as much as speed.

Can I take a 1 minute, 3 minute, or 5 minute test?+

Yes. Use 60 seconds on this page, or open the 1 minute, 3 minute, and 5 minute test pages. You can also switch the timer on the test itself.

What is consistency?+

Consistency shows how steady your speed was during the test. A high score means your WPM did not jump around much from second to second.

Can I download a typing certificate?+

You can download a result card with your name, WPM, CPM, and accuracy. It is a practice result from Priygop, not an official exam certificate.

Can I paste my own text?+

Yes. Choose Custom, paste any English paragraph, then click Use this text. This is for normal writing - for real code, use Code Typing Practice.

Can I take a word-count test instead of a timer?+

Yes. Switch Length to Words and pick 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, or 500 words. You can still use Words, Quotes, or Custom text.

Can I practice without a timer?+

Yes. Choose Untimed, type as long as you want, then click Finish. Combine it with Words, Quotes, or Custom text.

What is Blind mode?+

Blind hides red and green mistake colors while you type. You still see the words. When the test ends, errors and accuracy are shown.

What is Sudden death?+

Sudden death ends the test on the first wrong key. Use it as a strict accuracy drill. Your WPM, CPM, and accuracy still appear at the end.

What is No backspace?+

No backspace turns off Backspace so you cannot correct a word. Finish the word and press space, even if you made a mistake.

Does the typing test show an on-screen keyboard?+

Yes. Turn on Keyboard in Style. The next letter is highlighted so you can look at the screen instead of your hands.

Is there a public leaderboard?+

No. Scores stay on your device. You can share your result on WhatsApp or LinkedIn if you want.
